Our Charity Car Terms tell you the terms on which you may make use of our website CharityCar.co.uk (“our site”), whether as a guest or a registered user.

You can use our site to submit details about your car and its location to us, which we will use to confirm if your car is eligible for the Charity Car Scheme, in which case we will provide an offer (“Offer”).

The Charity Car Scheme is a car donation scheme managed by us. We will pass on the proceeds received from the disposal of your car (“Donation”) to the charity you have chosen to be the recipient of your Donation.

Our Cookie Policy, which sets out information about the cookies on our site.

If your car is eligible and you choose to accept an Offer, you will enter into a separate set of terms (“Service Agreement”) with the Service Provider, whose details we will provide to you. We act as the agent of a network of such businesses (“Service Providers”) which handle the purchase, resale and recycling of cars (“Service”).

Our site and the Service is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

Information We May Collect About You

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of data about you, which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data includes your name, title, car registration number, copies of documents used to verify your identity and photographs that you may provide.
  • Contact Data includes your home address, billing address (if different from your home address), the address of the car location (if different from your home address), email address, social media profile and your phone numbers and any phone number used to call our customer service number.
  • Transaction Data includes details about payments to the charity of your choice and other details about services you have used.
  • Technical Data includes the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access our site.
  • Profile Data includes your preferences, feedback and survey responses.
  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our site, products and services, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.
  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our trusted network partners and your preferences for how we contact you.

We may also collect, use and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate how may users visit a particular page on our site. Aggregated Data may be derived from your personal data, but it is not considered to be personal data in law because Aggregated Data does not directly reveal your identity. Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions or offences.

If you don’t provide us with your personal information when requested and we need to collect it by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with our products or services). In this case, we may have to cancel a product or service that you have requested, but we will notify you if this is the case at the time.

How Your Personal Information Is Collected

Disclosure Of Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.

  • Charities, so that they may contact you to thank you and confirm receipt of your donation.
  • Business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with them or you.

  • Analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our site.
  • Professional advisers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers who provide consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services.
  • The DVLA, HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances.

How We Store and Protect Your Personal Information

The data that we collect from you will be stored on our computers in the UK. It may be processed by staff who work for us or for the Service Provider and/or third parties for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the provision of the Offer and the provision of Services. We limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors, Service Providers and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
