Rainbow Trust supports families across England who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life threatening or terminal illness and need bespoke support.
Rainbow Trust tells us there is an estimated 49,000 young people living with a life limiting or life threatening condition in the UK who may require community-based care. While many of these children and their families are managing to cope, thousands of families are struggling on a day to day basis, while facing the very real possibility that their child may die.
Rainbow Trust has been operating for over 30 years now, supporting families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness and are in the greatest need. The charity currently runs nine teams of Family Support Workers across the UK from Southampton to County Durham; giving emotional and practical support to whole families at home, at hospital and in the community, from the moment of their child or young person’s diagnosis. The support given by Rainbow Trust extends to brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents, carers and of course the unwell child.
Every family, and condition, is different, so Rainbow Trust’s support is hugely varied and fits the needs of each individual family.
It might be that a family needs help with logistics of travel, general support around the home, looking after the sick child or support for siblings. The Rainbow Trust teams often find they are needed for hospital support – helping to organise appointments, explaining treatment and even staying with siblings or with sick children when parents or carers are stretched. Rainbow Trust also offer bereavement support, for the whole family.
“Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness. We wouldn’t be able to continue our work without the generous donations like those from Charity Car customers. The funds go straight to the families in need and give a massive impact to the local community as it prevents families feeling isolated. We really can’t thank you enough for all your kind donations.”

Your old car donation would go towards the vital practical care that Rainbow Trust supplies, which translates into significant improvements in the real lives of families… After receiving support from Rainbow’s Trust, families report that they regain confidence and financial stability, have an improved quality of life, with a better management of stress, and quite simply spend more quality time together.
