Clean Air Day is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign – raising awareness about this critical issue and how we can all make changes for cleaner air and improved health for everyone.
Air pollution impacts us all and it’s a much bigger problem than a lot of us realise, with the maximum levels of air pollution (as set by the World Health Organisation) being passed in almost 2,000 locations across the UK. Decades of study about the connection between air pollution and our health has shown that air pollution can move from our lungs to our bloodstream and reach other organs – increasing the risk of a huge range of health problems and making existing conditions worse, from asthma and stroke, diabetes and dementia, pregnancy loss and cancer. Every year, air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.
So, Clean Air Day has been inspiring people to take action on air quality and protect their health since 2017 and now your old car donations could help with this vital awareness campaign. There are lots of simple things we can all do to improve air quality. Clean Air Day is a chance to find out more about these achievable solutions, share information with friends and colleagues, and ultimately to help make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.
The charity behind the Clean Air Day campaign is Global Action Plan, a forward thinking organisation focused on making connections between what’s good for people and good for the planet.
Your old car donation will help Global Action Plan to fund the Clean Air Day campaign and raise awareness – giving even more people vital information about new research into the extent of air pollution’s damage to our health. Given this knowledge people are more likely to make the changes necessary to improve the air we all breath. And of course, if your old car donation is recycled, by taking your old polluting car off the road you will help decrease air pollution directly, as well as helping Clean Air Day!
The Clean Air Day campaign is not just for one day of the year. Your old car donation will help sustain this important message throughout the year and ensure the public is informed about the air they breathe and what they can do to improve it.
