Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families it cares for every year.
Generous supporters have helped to fund a range of life-saving medical equipment and facilities that are making a real difference to families every day at Alder Hey, but this charity still needs your support. An old car donation could help Alder Hey Children’s Charity to fund more projects designed to enhance and improve the lives of its amazing young patients.
Your car donation could help fund the fresh food-on-demand service
Good nutrition is critical for patients who are recovering in hospital. Poor nutrition can lead to weight loss, a weakened immune system and slower recovery – resulting in longer hospital stays for young patients. Alder Hey is the first children’s hospital in the UK to have dedicated chefs on every patient ward who prepare fresh, nutritious evening meals for patients, whenever they want to eat. Families already love this service, and say it provides better nutrition and a better experience in hospital, as well as reducing food waste. With your support, Alder Hey can enhance this service to focus on healthy eating, liaison with dieticians and education programmes for families and staff.
Your car donation could help fund next-generation technology to change hospital visits forever
Alder Hey Children’s Charity is piloting next-generation technology to reduce anxiety, distract patients during procedures and to help parents relax too. This has been a real success, but the charity needs funds to ensure all of its waiting areas can be entertaining and fun environments for patients.
The hospital’s digital fish tank, where patients waiting for daycase surgery can relax by designing a sea creature and watch it swim, is the only one of its kind in Europe. To help manage anxiety before arriving, patients can use the app Alder Play, to explore a digital version of Alder Hey to see their ward and meet staff. The app also offers games to distract patients during their stay, and a link to a reward scheme encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
The charity also funds a range of special projects such as ward musicians, an on-site magician and play specialists on every ward.
Your car donation could help fund vital research, innovation, and education
Alder Hey is working to develop the next generation of medicines and interventions that are even more effective, and safer. Donations have funded a new state of the art research and innovation facility and your support will help its vital work continue.
Alder Hey is testing new sensor technology to help identify infections and children’s X-Rays are being printed in 3D so surgeons can use these as a guide in surgery. Developing and trialling cutting edge technology like this ensures Alder Hey is constantly improving children’s health by treating them more effectively.
Your support will also enable Alder Hey to train nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals each year – learning the latest skills and techniques from some of the world’s leading clinicians and researchers.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity could use your old car donation to enhance and improve the lives of its amazing young patients, including the development of better, safer medicines and treatments, which will benefit children across the world.
