As it’s a rather different way to donate to a good cause, we often find ourselves wondering what it is that may have prompted people to donate their car to a particular charity. Over the last year we’ve reached out to some of the lovely people that have chosen to use Charity Car and asked about their car donations. We’ve had some interesting and moving responses and wanted to share their stories with you…
“My beloved Vera Volkswagen, I’m eventually letting her go after 18 years! 😢😢😢 My god so sad… She was mine and Maurice’s car. I’ve donated her through Charity Car to Perennial, the charity that helped us all through his illness and after he’d passed away 💚 She should have gone much sooner with things going wrong and the cost but just couldn’t let her go 😢 Oh how I love that car 💚💚💚💚 Been dreading this day for weeks… Now in bits as they’re coming for her soon 😭 But at least she’s going to them (the only reason I’m letting her go) 💚💚💚💚🐝🐝🐝”

Well, the Charity Car team know what it’s like to be attached to an old car, but we don’t think we’ve ever felt the way about our wheels that Beryl clearly does about Vera Volkswagen. Beryl’s story is the perfect example of how a car donation can soothe a difficult situation – she might have been sad to see the car go, but knowing it would be responsibly recycled and the funds would help this charity, so close to her heart, meant it was a positive end.
Perennial is a fantastic charity, dedicated to helping people who work, or have worked, in horticulture, when times get tough. They clearly made a massive difference to Beryl and Maurice in the toughest of times and your old car could help this special charity support more families.
