As it’s a rather different way to donate to a good cause, we often find ourselves wondering what it is that may have prompted people to donate their car to a particular charity. Over the last year we’ve reached out to some of the lovely people that have chosen to use Charity Car and asked about their car donations. We’ve had some interesting and moving responses and wanted to share their stories with you…
“I’m not sure if I have a special reason for passing on my car. Saving money and living a more green life is reason enough for me. It should be normal not special. And I want to support the good work of Oxfam – their campaigns and projects around the world.”
We also heard from Bill in Edinburgh about why he donated his old car to Oxfam…
“This car was our family mainstay for more than a decade. It got old, tatty and saggy, but it never once broke down. It kept supporting us and helping us as a family. It didn’t owe us anything at all. That’s why donating it was an obvious thing to do at the end of its working life. Oxfam made perfect sense as the charity to give to. It is also in the business of helping people, often families, when they need it most.”
