How It Works

Donating your car with Charity Car is easy and rewarding...

How to donate your car

Donating your car with Charity Car is easy and you’ll be helping a great cause. You don’t have to pay a penny, and your car will be collected at a time to suit you.

Step 1: Choose a charity

All Charity Car’s Official Partners are registered in the UK, all you have to do is check out our list of charities and choose the cause closest to your heart.

Step 2: Donate your car

Next, simply tell us your registration and postcode on our website to start the donation process. We’ll ask you a few questions about you and your car.

If you would prefer to speak to us to discuss the donation, or the possible value left in your car, please call on 0330 818 85 56. It will be helpful if you have the details of the car you’re thinking of donating. We’ll be happy to answer any of your questions.

Step 3: Have your car collected

There’s no charge for collection and you’ll be able to arrange to have your car picked up from anywhere, whether your car is at home, work, or a garage. We’ll get in touch with you to arrange collection at a time that’s best for you.

We’ll also help you with the necessary paperwork when you donate your car, it’s vital to get it right so that you don’t get hit with a fine from DVLA. If your car is being scrapped you’ll get an official DVLA Certificate of Destruction.

Step 4: Processing your car

We’ll decide on the best route for your old car, so that your chosen charity gets the maximum donation we can generate.

If your car has reached the end of the road it will be responsibly recycled, or, in some cases re-used, at one of our authorised branches. And here’s the best part, unlike other car donation schemes, your chosen charity will receive 100% of the scrap value!

If there’s enough life left in your old car, and we’re sure it will raise more than the scrap price after sales fees, we’ll raise a higher value for your charity through auction.

We always try to maximise your donation for our charity partners, but if you think your vehicle holds significant value, you can speak to customer services before donating to check you’re happy with our assessment of its potential value.

Step 5: Confirmation of your donation

We’ll email you to let you know what happened to your old car and how much money it raised for your chosen charity. We’ll also say a great big thank you because your charity will be grateful for every penny your donated car generates!
