Your green credentials could seriously go through the roof…
The charity behind the Clean Air Day campaign is Global Action Plan. This amazing organisation is a forward-thinking charity focused on making connections between what’s good for people and good for the planet. The Charity Car team loves this synergy!
The rather scary reality is that air pollution impacts us all and in the UK it’s a much bigger problem than a lot of us realise. It’s not just the respiratory conditions you might expect to hear about, but decades of research into air pollution and its effects on our health have shown it can increase the risk of and worsen conditions including stroke, diabetes, dementia, pregnancy loss and cancer. In fact up to 36,000 deaths per year in this country are thought to be caused by air pollution.
The Clean Air Day campaign is all about raising awareness of this issue and giving us all positive advice about what achievable things we can do to decrease air pollution and our exposure to it, achieving clean air for everyone!
You can check out the Clean Air Day website for all their superb advice and our colleagues at CarTakeBack have some great travel tips you may find interesting (one of those is of course to donate your old car to Clean Air Day via Charity Car – they really know their stuff!).
If you or anyone you know decides to donate an old car to Clean Air Day please show off about it! – Spreading the word means you’ll be increasing awareness of the campaign and doing even more good!
Or, if you have your own ideas for reducing air pollution and taking part in Clean Air Day be sure to let us know that too, tag us in @CharityCarUK and use the hashtag #CleanAirDay… Thank you!
