Charity Car Partner Royal Trinity Hospice

Registered Charity number: 1013945

Trinity Hospice was established in 1891 and is the oldest hospice in the UK. Each year, they provide care for over 2,000 individuals with a terminal illness in their own homes, as outpatients and in the Trinity Hospice inpatient centre. Services include medical, physical, emotional and practical support and are intended to improve quality of life for patients for whatever time is left, be it one year, one month or one week.

More about Royal Trinity Hospice

Trinity Hospice is the only dedicated end of life care service for 750,000 people living in the central and southwest London community- each year 10,000 of these people will find out that they have a life-threatening illness.

Trinity Hospice care for people with many types of illnesses. Many patients will have cancer but others will have long-term conditions such as heart failure, lung or neurological conditions including motor neuron disease or multiple sclerosis. It's the needs of the patient and their family that matter to Trinity Hospice, not the diagnosis. They also support close friends, families and children throughout the bereavement process because when someone is dying many people feel the impact.

It costs nearly 11 million annually to maintain Trinity's vital services, all of which are provided free of charge to patients and their families. A set amount of funding comes from the NHS - therefore Trinity Hospice rely heavily on the support of voluntary donations from the community and projects such as Charity Car to raise the remaining £8 million each year. Without your support and generosity, Trinity would simply not exist.

At any one time Trinity Hospice support up to 450 dying people and their families.

Here's how your support will help to care for more people:

  • £100 will pay for the training of a Trinity volunteer, who will provide practical help and emotional support to patients in their own home
  • £200 pays for one day of expert nursing care
  • £750 pays for a syringe driver, providing continuous, effective pain relief
