The Merlin MS Centre exists to provide therapy and support and raise awareness for those affected by a long term neurological condition in Cornwall.
The Merlin MS Centre is an independent charity located in mid-Cornwall. Its charitable aim is to provide subsidised therapy for people who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The charity also offers therapy and support to those with other neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
On average 70 people a day use the Centre’s facilities. The charity receives no Government funding and therefore derives its income from fundraising activities in the community; hiring of the Centre’s conference and therapy rooms to external clients, plus income from grant making trusts. With annual running costs of around £500,000 per year, your old car donation could help to keep these vital services running.
The charity’s purpose-built facilities provide therapies to help manage symptoms such as individual and group physiotherapy, occupational and exercise therapy; sensory integration therapy; podiatry; oxygen therapy and health and well being therapies. Outreach services are also offered in the community twice a week. In addition, the charity provides services to relieve isolation and loneliness, including; a day respite service three times a week; counselling and social groups.
The charity also offers a free wheel-chair accessible transport service, which is run entirely by volunteers and works on a donation basis. So, it could be a fitting end for your old wheels – giving other people the freedom to access the Merlin MS Centre’s facilities and services.
