A crisis can happen to anyone, anywhere and the British Red Cross works extensively in the UK and overseas. In the UK, the charity helps over half a million people every year, supporting them in emergencies, providing care in the home, and teaching life-saving first aid skills, among numerous other services. The charity also operates eight branches in 'British Overseas Territories' - countries that are subject to the British government - working on everything from teaching first aid to preparing for and recovering from disasters.
