About SPEAR Search and Rescue

Registered charity number: 1177543

SPEAR Search and Rescue is a UK based charity saving lives through emergency response and capacity building in the UK and overseas.

SPEAR Search and Rescue’s goal is to alleviate the negative impacts of disasters, hazards, crisis and emergencies on affected populations within the UK and internationally through the training, coordination and deployment of a diverse range of volunteers.

The charity is based in London but relies on volunteers from all over the UK and from all walks of life, who have come together to reduce the loss of life and suffering resulting from natural disasters. These volunteers are highly trained in a variety of Search and Rescue disciplines.

Old car donations could help fund SPEAR SAR’s teams, which are available 24/7, 365 days a year to quickly & safely extricate casualties from rubble to river banks and ultimately save lives. Members train day & night and in all weather’s so that they’re prepared for any eventuality.

The organisation works in these four main areas:

Medical – SPEAR SAR’s volunteers include paramedics and doctors who help to deliver high-quality medical treatment at events and on active deployments all over the world.

Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) – The fire and rescue service lead regular training to enable SPEAR SAR teams to work safely in hazardous environments and respond effectively to the after-effects of natural disasters such as hurricanes.

Marine – This is a speciality area in which SPEAR SAR is highly skilled and allows the teams to respond to both domestic and international flooding including tsunamis and conduct rescues in swift water or support local communities to mitigate the risks of flooding.

Training – SPEAR SAR takes its skills abroad and shares this knowledge and training with local communities so they can keep themselves safe and assist other communities in disaster situations.
