Yes, we'll assume that your car is accessible.
You'll be able to let us know about any issues with accessing your car when you submit it for donation, and we can discuss this with you if we need to.
Accessible means that your scrap or used car has inflated tyres and is parked on solid ground, so that it can be safely winched onto a recovery vehicle.
It's important that you tell us if your car is not accessible, for example if the steering is locked, if your car is blocked in, or if the tyres are flat, as this could affect the collection of your car.
After you've arranged to donate your car, we'll get in touch with you by email or phone to arrange a convenient time for us to collect your car.
If we haven't been able to get in touch before the end of the working day, we'll try again the next working day.
If we're unable to contact you by phone and we have your mobile number or email address we may try to send you a text or email. Please check your junk or spam filters to allow emails from info@CharityCar.co.uk.
Once you've submitted your car for donation to charity, we'll get in touch to discuss a collection date and time that suits you. Most collections are arranged within two working days.
Collections usually take place from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 7pm. But please let us know if you're in a hurry, or you need us to collect your car earlier or later than this, or on a Sunday, and we'll do our best to help.
And, if you tell us your mobile number, we'll send you a text message to remind you nearer the time.
We'll only use your email and phone number to contact you about your car. We protect your personal information as set out in our privacy policy.
You'll need to have a few things ready:
- your ID
- documents for your car, if you have them (registration certificate, service history, MOT certificate)
- your car keys (including any locking wheel nut or electronic keys and codes) and security codes if you have them
- finally, don’t forget to remove any personal belongings and rubbish.
On the collection day we'll:
- check that your car matches the details you gave us
- check and take a copy of your ID
- take care of the DVLA paperwork
- arrange for your donation to be sent to your chosen charity.
You'll also need to notify DVLA that you've sold your car. If you've any remaining road tax, DVLA will refund you automatically.
We'll give you your reference number when you submit your scrap or used car for donation and it will be shown on any emails we send to you. It uses the format 'CC-0000-000000'.
It helps if you have this to hand if you need to contact us with any enquiries about your donation to charity.
