Heeley City Farm is a mini-farm with a big-heart! It’s a treasured local charity working for the community with the community, tackling gritty inner-city issues such as education and aspiration, fuel poverty, mental and physical health.
Heeley City Farm is a rare breed farm which houses a diverse range of large and small animals. But there is a lot more to this friendly farm and environmental visitor centre in the heart of Sheffield. As well as a veggie café, garden centre, organic gardens and an energy centre, the charity most importantly offers multiple opportunities to all ages and abilities for learning and support.

Heeley City Farm provides supported learning to 8-16 year old’s – giving young people the opportunity to gain skills in developing independence and social interaction through one-off events, sensory experiences and regular programmes tailored to specific needs.
The charity also offers learning disability placements with a variety of stimulating and interesting experiences tailor-made to individuals’ interests, support needs and abilities.
The farm even has a Dementia Department providing support for carers of people with Dementia and also helping people with dementia through Animal Assisted Therapy and other creative resources.
As if all that wasn’t enough, Heeley City Farm also runs the South Yorkshire Energy Centre, which is a unique not-for-profit, energy efficiency demonstration centre in Sheffield, dedicated to keeping local people warm and comfortable. The charity helps people to find better energy deals, manage bills, and takes them through simple steps to improve homes’ energy efficiency. They meet with some of the most vulnerable residents struggling with health issues or poor housing. Staff often travel around the city on vital Home Visits using public transport. The Energy Centre is hoping to fund an electric vehicle so that they can reach more people in their homes, and also use it as a demonstration vehicle at the Visitor Centre. This incredible charity receives no core funding from the Council to help them run the site or the community projects they provide.
