There aren't many seasons that seem to align with a charity, but Spring (which most of the country has had a little welcome taster of recently!) always makes the Charity Car team think about Marie Curie and its Great Daffodil Appeal. So, it will be no surprise that this marvellous charity is taking top spot as our Official Charity Car Partner of the Month for March 2019!

Over the years Marie Curie has given millions of people the support needed to cope with their, or a loved one's terminal illness. Whether that's a home visit by a specialist Marie Curie nurse, a simple chat with a trained advisor over the phone, or a stay in a Marie Curie Hospice in the community. The Charity Car team knows how incredibly important all these types of support can be and how this amazing charity can help when you don't think anything can.

Marie Curie Nurse Making A Home Visit

We're delighted that an old car donation via Charity Car can help fund Marie Curie's work. To give you an idea of what an old set of wheels could enable Marie Curie to put into motion, we asked how much it costs to fund certain aspects of the charity's work...

Just £20 pays for a Marie Curie Nurse to look after someone with a terminal illness for one hour, in the comfort of their own home. That means the average donation from a car that is recycled would cover five whole hours of Marie Curie nursing care.

£400, which could be generated from an old car with enough miles left in it to auction, would pay for someone to stay in a Marie Curie Hospice for 24 hours, so they can receive the hands-on care they need in their final days.

Of course, whether or not you have an old car to donate to help Marie Curie, everyone can be part of the Great Daffodil Appeal. This country-wide campaign is not only a huge help raising much-needed funds, but wearing a daffodil unites the wearer with millions who believe dying people should get the care and support they deserve. Marie Curie puts it beautifully - that every day of your life matters - from the first to the last - and this fantastic charity does all it can to make sure people living with a terminal illness get the most from the time they have left, however hard that may feel.

Two members of the Charity Car team had an amazing experience volunteering to collect for the Great Daffodil Appeal a few years ago when Marie Curie joined Charity Car, and we'll be heading out again this month to be part of this super campaign. If you go to buy a daffodil and someone asks how old your car is, it's probably us! We'll be sure to let you all know how the collection has gone and of course share a photo of us in a ginormous yellow hat - so keep tuned in to the blog this month as well as all our posts on Facebook...
