Based in West Sussex, Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital is a voluntary organisation who have rehabilitated and treated ill, injured and orphaned wildlife for over 45 years. On average, they have over 3,000 wildlife patients every year! That includes around 500 hedgehogs, 2,500 birds, and small numbers of other reptiles and mammals too.

It was all started by a man called Dennis in 1971 because he rescued a baby sparrow who had fallen into a goldfish bowl! He learned how to look after the sparrow until it was old enough to be released. Dennis’ friends then started recommending him for looking after injured birds, and Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital was born!

Their website is full of advice on what to do if you find a baby bird or a hedgehog in need, and how to help other sick or injured wildlife. There is also useful information on helping to support wildlife where you live, and wildlife tips for when you're out in the countryside or tending to your garden.

The charity exists solely to rehabilitate and release animals, and relies on donations alone, so if you have an old car that is taking up room on your driveway, donate it to Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital through Charity Car, and we’ll turn it into a cash donation for you.
