The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust cares for the National Memorial to the Few at Capel-le-Ferne in Kent.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust works to preserve the memory of those who Churchill named as the “Few” and who protected Britain from invasion in the summer and early autumn of 1940. Not only does the charity look after and manage the National Memorial to the Few at Capel-le-Ferne in Kent, in 2017 it became a CIO and now also represents the Battle of Britain Fighter Association, whose members served in the Battle of Britain.
The charity relies solely on the generosity of supporters and visitors, so your old car donation could help the charity’s Battle of Britain Fighter Association members and also help fund the upkeep of this significant site. A state-of-the-art visitor and education centre named ‘The Wing’, makes a visit to the memorial an enjoyable experience and gives everyone the opportunity learn more about the bravery and sacrifice of the men of the RAF whose valour the site commemorates. However, the yearly running costs of the entire site are around £150,000. Your old car donation would be a very welcome addition to help keep this special site open.
The trustees of The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust hope you will be able to visit Capel-le-Ferne and the National Memorial to the Few, to feel the special atmosphere that exists in this area of natural beauty, where some of the most intense aerial fighting has taken place. Not only does the site allow everyone to remember the aircrew who fought for us, but all the men and women who supported them and were equally willing to give their lives to preserve the freedom we enjoy so long afterwards.
